Liora Grossman was born in October 15th 1966 in Lithuania, and immigrated
to Israel in 1971 at the age of five. 1991 graduated (B.Ed.) from the graphic-design
department at the “Bezalel” academy of fine arts in Jerusalem.
After graduation, worked for two years as a background artist for the Israeli-Belgian
animator Hanan Kaminski, the current head of the animation department at
the Bezalal academy. Between the years 93’-96’ worked as a visualizer
in Tamir-Cohen-JWT advertising, practicing various aspects of commercial
illustration (ads, packaging, story-board etc.). Since 1996, worked as a
freelance illustrator, specializing in children books and issued over 50
picture books, both fiction and non fiction, for almost all Israeli leading
publishers. In the year 1994, formed a lasting collaboration with on of
Israel’s most well known Chefs and journalists – Nira Rousso,
and together created a daily illustrated food column in “Ha’harez”
newspaper (also issued in English as the Israeli edition of the “Herald
Tribune”). The column – which is still being published –
started the trend of illustrated (as opposed to photographed) food in Israel,
and was followed by a monthly food column for children, at the children
magazine "Einayim” (“eyes”), Issued by the Israel
Museum in Jerusalem. Her work was demanded by the leading Israeli newspapers
and magazines, like the children section in Ma’ariv newspaper, The
economy section in Ha’Aretz newspaper, “Ha’Mishpat”
law magazine “Wine and Gourmet” magazine, “Laisha”
women magazine and the Israeli edition of the American “Mad”
magazine, which included original comic-strips by Israeli illustrators.
During the last five years Liora shared her knowledge with students in the
graphic design department at the “Meimad” academy of visual
arts in Tel-Aviv, and at the “Vital-Shenkar” academy of design
in Ramat-Gan. Liora currently lives and works in Tel-Aviv, working on new
picture books, finishing her own illustrated cook book, and hoping to expand
and share her talent with many young readers world-wide.  |
